Born in Rio de Janeiro, editor and art director founder of Familia Editions (2018) Maria Lago, lived and studied Editorial Design and Fine Arts in Rio and Madrid before moving to New York in 2014. She creates art and photo books, including hand-bound volumes and limited-edition artist monographs. She also designs and develops publications and concepts for cultural organizations and high-end lifestyle brands. Maria published her second photography book, Where the city meets the sea, as an author, editor, curator, designer and photographer, among a selection of other eight photographers, in November of 2016. Her first book, Arpoador Tribute, launched in 2013 and was very well received. Maria also produces her own limited-edition photobooks besides being a book collector and participating in diverse groups of discussion on the matter such as 10 x 10 Photobooks.
Maria specialized in editorial and uses her eyes to curate, edit and design. The book as a support is the perfect canvas to translate creative concepts and their subtleness, through pages that age freshly and last in time.
Other stories can be told transcending the book format when it comes to create concepts translating brand experience through visuals, from the inspiration presentation to the brand design itself.
